Metalone is a preparation of fluorometholone Acetate which is a synthetic topical corticosteroid. It is used for ocular inflammation.

Fluorometholone acetate is indicated for the treatment of corticosteroid-responsive inflammation of the palpebral and bulbar conjunctiva, cornea and anterior segment of the globe.

Pediatric Use: Safety and effectiveness in children below the age of two years have not been established.

Adults: One to two drops instilled into the conjunctival sac two to four times daily. During the initial 24 to 48 hours the dosage may be safely increased to 2 drops every 2 hours.

Glaucoma with optic nerve damage, visual acuity or field defects, cataract formation, secondary ocular infection following suppression of host immunity, perforation of the globe.

Shake well before using. If this product is used for 10 days or longer, intraocular pressure should be monitored.

Fluorometholone acetate is contraindicated in
• Herpes simplex keratitis, vaccinia, varicella and most other viral diseases of the conjunctiva and cornea
• Fungal diseases of the eye
• Hypersensitivity to any of the constituents of the medication.
