Metalone Sterile Ophthalmic Suspension: Each ml contains Fluorometholone Acetate USP 1mg.
Description
Metalone is a preparation of Fluorometholone Acetate which is a synthetic topical corticosteroid. It is used for ocular inflammation.
Indications
Fluorometholone acetate is indicated for the treatment of corticosteroid-responsive inflammation of the palpebral and bulbar conjunctiva, cornea and anterior segment of the globe.
Pediatric Use: Safety and effectiveness in children below the age of two years have not been established.
Dosage & Administration
Adults: One to two drops instilled into the conjunctival sac two to four times daily. During the initial 24 to 48 hours the dosage may be safely increased to 2 drops every 2 hours.
Side Effects
Glaucoma with optic nerve damage, visual acuity or field defects, cataract formation, secondary ocular infection following suppression of host immunity, perforation of the globe.
Precautions
Shake well before using. If this product is used for 10 days or longer, intraocular pressure should be monitored.
Use in Pregnancy & Lactation
There is no adequate and well-controlled study of fluorometholone in pregnant women. There is no information available whether it is secreted in the milk or not.
